New Delhi: The Planning Commission has promised necessary assistance to GMR Group for easing the problems being faced by passengers at the Delhi international airport. The assurance was given by Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia to GMR Group chief G M Rao who called on him yesterday, sources close to the developments said.
Ahluwalia assured the GMR chief that the Commission will impress upon the government to provide adequate number of security personnels to manage entry points and other related services at the Delhi airport.
Rao, who met Ahluwalia along with other company officials, pointed out that Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), which is managing the airport, was facing several problems resulting from bureaucratic delays over which it has no control.
Rao also informed the Commission about DIAL's plans to set up a temporary terminal to deal with the growing passenger traffic at the international airport.
