Kolkata: For the third consecutive day today Port Blair airport was unavailable for normal air traffic due to waterlogging of the runway.
A Deccan Air flight from Chennai could land in the island airport at 6.30 a m. But two planes which had taken off from Kolkata had to return as the run way was waterlogged, according to information reaching Kolkata Air Traffic Control.
The high tide and rain water affected the runway strip, it said.
Intermittent showers are lashing Andaman, which experienced about 21 cm of rainfall on the night of may nine inundating the runway and the terminal building.
