South African Airways to increase frequency from Mumbai

New Delhi: South African Airways will be increasing its frequency from Mumbai by adding one more flight, thereby making it five flights per week from October 26, 2008. The airline is augmenting the frequency due to increased load factors, as well as enhanced corporate traffic to South Africa. Though it is currently offline from New Delhi, it will soon commence operations from the capital city. Apart from this, the national carrier of South Africa is also planning to tie-up with domestic carriers in India for increasing their reach. They are planning to have interline agreements with Air India and Indian by September 2008. Currently, the airline has special prorate agreements with Jet Airways and Kingfisher Airlines with the objective of serving more cities. Internationally, South African Airways is exploring routes in Johannesburg and within Africa as a continent to increase their connectivity.
Talking to TravelBiz Monitor, Tauseef Khan, Acting Head, South East Asia, South African Airways said, “We have witnessed an increase in Indian travellers to South Africa. More and more corporate travellers are going to South Africa for business and Meetings Incentives Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE).
