Civil aviation ministry may cut foreign trips

New Delhi: The civil aviation ministry, by virtue of the work that it deals with, is one ministry where bureaucrats have to travel abroad on official work frequently. But on Friday civil aviation ministry official sources said that the ministry would carefully examine the Prime Minister’s recommendation to cut down on foreign travel.
"The nature of work, such as negotiation of bilateral air travel agreements with foreign countries, is such that one has to undertake visits to foreign countries," said a ministry official.
However, officials said that the ministry would carefully examine the Prime Minister’s recommendation on cutting down foreign travel. "The civil aviation ministry is a small one and there is not as much of budgetary allocation compared to certain other ministries," said an official.
