Court fines pilot Rs.10,000 for filing frivolous case

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court Tuesday slapped a fine of Rs.10,000 on a former Indian Airlines pilot for filing a frivolous petition alleging that the landing procedures followed by certain types of aircrafts were unsafe. A division bench headed by Justices Manmohan Sarin and Manmohan dismissed the public interest petition filed by Captain P.N. Sharma and asked him pay the fine to Delhi High Court legal services committee.
The bench found the suggestions made by the petitioner was neither feasible nor acceptable.
“We are of the view that the matter must rest with the finding and opinion of the experts and not permitted to be agitated any further,” the bench ruled.
Sharma’s petition had sought direction to the government to correct the alleged fault in the emergency landing procedure for certain types of aircraft.
