Kingfisher to start ops to Lanka from Sept

Colombo: India's private air carrier Kingfisher Airlines is likely to begin its operations to Sri Lanka from September this year.
The airline would be operating two daily flights from Chennai and Bangalore.
The airline is expecting to get the government's approval to fly abroad on the rights of low-cost carrier Air Deccan, which it has acquired.
As per the prevailing norms, an airline is allowed to fly overseas only after it completes five years of domestic operations and has a 20-aircraft fleet. Air Deccan will complete its five years of domestic service on August 23 this year.
After the launch of these new services, Kingfisher Airlines will have 254 departures a day and would be flying to 40 destinations with a fleet of 42 new aircraft, the state owned Daily News reported today. Kingfisher is expected to begin its flights to Huston, New York and Bangladesh by end of August.
