Malaysia Air scouts for South Indian destinations

In order to expand its services in India, Malaysia Airlines is looking for a destination in southern part of the country to fly to and from Kuala Lumpur.
The airline currently flies from five cities in India — Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai. "We are looking for another city in the south to fly to. I have been to Trivandrum, Kochi and Tiruchirapalli. We take a decision in the due course of time," Malaysia Airlines South Asia Regional Manager Christopher Yek said.
Apart from the southern cities, the airline is also considering Kolkata to start its services to.
With a new flight scheduled by the airline from Bangalore to Kuala Lumpur early next month, the airline would have 33 flights from the five destinations to the Malaysian capital.
"We are keen on India and always looking to expand services to the country. However, we do not believe in huge deployment of flights at one go," Yek said. The airline, which has a load factor in "high sixties" on flights from Indian destinations, has launched five new flights from India to Kuala Lumpur in the last eight months.
