Pricing tickets below costs should stop: Jet Airways chief

Istanbul: Estimating a collective loss of Rs 10,000 crore by Indian carriers this year, Jet Airways chief Naresh Goyal has sought an end to "irrational and crazy" pricing of tickets below costs, meant to undercut each other.
"It is not just the high fuel cost. All of us (Indian airlines) have been doing irrational and crazy pricing, selling tickets below costs. There is also no regulator in place. Otherwise this would not have happened," he told PTI in an interview here.
Goyal, who was here to attend the Annual General Meeting of International Air Transport Association, of whose board he was re-elected, said the Indian airline losses would double this year as carriers continued to fight for enhancing their market share.
