Airport launches drive against animals straying on runway

Nagpur: Authorities of Dr Ambedkar International Airport have launched a vigorous drive against monkeys and deer straying onto the runway, a top airport official said on Tuesday.
"We have engaged a monkey trapper from Dangali district to trap the strays. Another party has simultaneously been entrusted the job of catching pigs who often stray onto the runway," Airport Controller S N Borkar told PTI.
Eleven monkeys were caught and later released in the jungles under supervision of Airport Authority of India officers on Monday.
"The AAI, too, has set up 12 zone guns to scare the animals away. We have also fixed reflective ribbons along the runway to distract birds," he said.
