Blue Dart to raise courier charges to offset ATF price hike

Kolkata: India's largest courier company Blue Dart, which operates its own fleet of aircraft, on wednesday said it would raise charges by up to 15 per cent to offset the spurt in jet fuel prices.
Aviation turbine fuel prices have gone up by 18.5 per cent in the last few months and more than doubled in the last three years.
The charges would be raised to the extent of 10 per cent to 15 per cent due to rise in prices of ATF, diesel and petrol, Blue Dart's Managing Director Anil Khanna said here.
To support the air express operations of the company, Blue Dart floated Blue Dart Aviation Limited as a 100 per cent subsidiary.
Blue Dart, which was acquired by global logistics firm DHL in 2004, enjoys the largest market share in the domestic air express sector. DHL controls 81.03 per cent of Blue Dart. The balance shareholding was being held by the public. Khanna said that the industry was projected to be of the order of Rs 5,256 crore by 2012.
