Kampala: Brussels Airlines, the Belgian-based airline, is to offer travellers on its African network onward connections to India and China following a partnership with Jet Airways and Hainan Airlines.
With connection times, the code-share agreements will see Brussels Airlines’ passengers travel to three major Indian cities of Mumbai, formerly Bombay, Delhi and Chennai formerly Madras, as well as to the Chinese capital Beijing.
“The partnership with Jet Airways, among world’s best airlines, allows Brussels Airlines to play an important role in the deepening relationship between the African continent and India...,” a statement from airline’s External Communications Officer in Brussels, Ms Julien Tilkens said on July 8.
“Every day, a flight to/from each of the 3 Indian destinations is operted”. The airline has been serving China, a major investor in Africa, for the last two years. The airline said every week, five flights are offered between the European capital and Beijing, city of the 2008 Olympic Games.
Brussels Airlines now offers services to 16 African destinations.
They can now also travel directly onwards to Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai or Beijing thanks to code-share agreements with Jet Airways and Hainan Airlines.
