The commencement of a scheduled service to Bengaluru (Bangalore) from Hong Kong, onboard Dragonair, was celebrated with a ceremony on July 2 at Bengaluru International Airport.
The new daily service, operated by a A330 aircraft, marks the initial foray of Dragonair into the Indian market, and is currently the only scheduled nonstop service on this route.
“Dragonair has been looking at opportunities in the Indian market for many years,” said Dragonair GM Ground Services and International Affairs, Algernon Yau.“We have long recognised the huge potential associated with this important, fast-growing country.”
Mr Yau presided over the arrival ceremony at Bengaluru International Airport after the inaugural flight landed.The daily flight KA152 leaves Hong Kong at 22:20, and returns to Bengaluru at 02:20 on KA153. The launch of the new route was celebrated with a gift to the inaugural travellers, with those arriving in Bengaluru receiving a traditional Indian souvenir, and those travelling to Hong Kong being given a Chinese lucky scarf.
