Pune: German air carrier Lufthansa on Wednesday launched a direct Pune-Frankfurt flight that provides excellent connectivity to 97 European and 23 US destinations. Lufthansa will operate Airbus A319 carrier with 48 all business class seats.
Announcing the launch of this 6-days-a-week flight, Lufthansa South East Asia Director Werner Heesen said, the company plans to attract only "corporate" fliers through this flight.
Lufthansa presently operates 55 flights every week from India to Franfurt, Munich and Zurich. Apart from Pune, it has operations from Mumbai, Kolkata, New Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad.
The company makes 23 per cent of its asia-pacific region revenues from India, just below the top revenue making country Japan.
Though Heesen did not disclose the number of passengers on the first flight, sources confirmed, the number was 25.
