Nagpur: Low-cost carrier Indigo cancelled its Mumbai flight abruptly on Monday evening. This was the second such incidence in a week; Air India too had cancelled its flight to Mumbai earlier. Sources informed, “To combat rising ATF rates, air carriers are reducing, or even cancelling, a number of flights on various sectors. Most air carriers, including low-cost operators, are planning to rationalise air routes across the country, including from Nagpur.”
Meanwhile, Jet Airways has said that its evening flight to Mumbai will remain suspended for two months and will be restarted from September 15. Jet is also planning to rationalise the JetLite operated Nagpur-Kolkata flight and shift it to the Mumbai sector, he added.
It may be mentioned here that private carrier Kingfisher had also discontinued its morning and evening flights on Nagpur-Mumbai sector from October 28, 2007. After this development, only Air India, Deccan and Indigo will be offering evening flights to Mumbai from Nagpur.
