Punj Lloyd JV firm in talks with NACIL

New Delhi: Swissport Punj Lloyd Pvt Ltd, the joint venture between infrastructure major Punj Lloyd and airport and aviation service provider Swissport International, is believed to be in talks with National Aviation Company of India Ltd for undertaking its ground handling work. NACIL is the the entity formed after the merger of Air India and Indian Airlines. The joint venture is also in touch with DIAL (Delhi International Airport Ltd), MIAL (Mumbai International Airport Ltd) as well as AAI (Airports Authority of India) for the ground handling projects.
"Swissport Punj Lloyd Pvt Ltd is in touch with NACIL, AAI, DIAL and MIAL for ground handling work," a source close to the development said.
When contacted, the Punj Lloyd spokesperson declined to comment. The ground handling services include aircraft servicing and cleaning, airport security, cargo and mail handling, catering services, crew administration, fueling, operation of airport lounges, passenger and baggage handling and ramp services among others. Air India, part of NACIL, operates more than 37 aircrafts and connects 130 international and domestic destinations together with its subsidiary Air India Express, a low-cost airline. Punj Lloyd also bought 33 per cent last year in domestic aircraft maintenance firm Air Works India.
