New Delhi: The national carrier, Air India, would soon cut down some of the international flights it’s operating due to rising losses on account of high aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices and declining load factor.
In a recent meeting in Mumbai, the airline’s management discussed the option of withdrawing services on certain destinations for some time. The destinations to which these curtailments would be effected are however yet to be firmed up.
Sources said Osaka, Seoul and Los Angeles were most likely to be dropped from airlines service list for the time being.
Air India will also make efforts to rationalise some of the international flights including the one to London. The changes in schedule are likely to come into effect in September.
The airline has already curtailed or cancelled frequencies of its flights on international destinations. This apart, services have also been reduced in domestic sector by about ten per cent.
