New Delhi: Passengers have been pointing fingers at the security personnel for loss of their properties during the mandatory checkings but senior airport officials claim that they have detected some cases of travellers being at the wrong side.
The footages of CCTVs, installed at the various spots in the airport, had come handy in tracing the person who has committed the theft, they said.
Five such cases have been reported at the airport where recovery of items had been made using the CCTV footage, in which theft was committed by a fellow-passenger.
In one of the cases, an African national was caught on the camera lifting the mobile phone of his fellow passenger during security check and X-ray.
After going through the CCTV recording, the security personnel traced him, and informed their counterpart at Goa, where he was travelling. During the search at Goa airport, security personnel recovered three mobiles from him.
The CCTV footage has also proved helpful in verification of false claim of loss of their belongings by the passengers.
