Delta to launch Atlanta-Mumbai service

Delta Air Lines Inc. said Thursday it plans to start a new daily nonstop route between Atlanta and Mumbai, India beginning Nov. 1, pending foreign government approval.
The announcement is the latest in a series of international route expansions from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
India is home to one of the world’s fastest growing economies and Delta is putting much of its recovery efforts on expanding lucrative international service. The Mumbai route will be the 78th international destination out of Atlanta.
“Serving Mumbai from Atlanta will allow us to optimize the route thanks to the approximately 150 U.S. destinations to which Mumbai customers will be able to connect, as well as the more than 30 easy connections available to and from Latin America and the Caribbean, said Glen Hauenstein, Delta executive vice president for network and revenue management.
