Flights delayed due to maintenance work on Mumbai main runway

Mumbai: Air traffic at the Mumbai airport was disrupted on Monday with flights delayed by up to one hour following incessant rains since last night leading to patches being formed on the main runway.
"The main runway has been closed for maintenance work as there are some patches to be repaired. However, traffic has been diverted to the secondary runway," a Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) official told PTI here.
There is an average delay of half-an-hour to 45-minutes because of the on-going maintenance work, the official said.
It is learnt that some six flights have been diverted to other destinations including two Kingfisher flights.
"Two of our flights, Kolkata-Mumbai and Delhi-Mumbai, have been diverted to Ahmedabad," a Kingfisher Airlines official said.
