Patna: The good performance of Jet Airways in the first quarter of the current fiscal notwithstanding, India's largest private airline has decided to suspend its Patna-Delhi flight from August 11 to September 30.
An official e-mail in this regard was recently sent to the Jet local office here after which ticket booking on and after August 11 is not being taken up at the local office. Though airline officials have no official reason for the step taken, yet sources in the airline industry feel it has been done due to declining number of passengers in the flight.
This took place after government carrier Air India recently changed the flight time of its afternoon flight and slotted it for the evening hours and that too just 45 minutes prior to the Jet flight on the same route.
"On an average, we used to book around 70 passengers for the evening flight but ever since the change in time of the Air India flight, the average booking has gone down to 40," said a Jet Airways official, who refused to be named.
He, however, claimed that suspension of Delhi flight was just a temporary measure and the headquarters was likely to take a decision over changes in flight timing very soon.
