A new fire station at Bajpe Airport

Mangalore: Infrastructure at Mangalore Airport at Bajpe has received a boost with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) sanctioning a new fire station to it.
The new station will be built at an estimated cost of Rs. 3.36 crore, M.R. Vasudeva, director of the airport.
The category VIII fire station proposed at the airport would be equipped to handle any emergency situation arising out of landing of larger aircraft such as Boeing 747. The agency to construct the station had been selected and the site identified. Construction work, to be taken up after a month, would be completed within nine months, he said. The new fire station would have nine parking stands for fire tenders, a first aid room, a doctor's room, 12 beds for patients and other mandatory facilities. It would have an overhead water tank of 50,000 litres capacity. The existing station had six beds for patients, he said.
