SpiceJet announces scheme for defence personnel

New Delhi: Low Cost carrier SpiceJet on Tuesday announced the launch of its 'Freedom to Fly' scheme for the serving armed forces personnel under which they will be exempted from paying basic fare.
"Under 'Freedom to Fly' scheme, all serving defence personnel would enjoy 100 per cent discount on basic fare for unlimited tickets on any sector. They will just have to pay the taxes and fees," SpiceJet Director Kishore Gupta said while launching the scheme.
Terming it beneficial for the defence personnel, Air Chief Marshal, F H Major said, "it is beneficial for the soldiers, the sailors and the airmen who want to reduce their travelling time to reach home while going on leave."
The airline issued the first ticket under this scheme to the Chief of Air Staff.
The offer, which has been launched for the first time in India, is an indefinite one and will begin from August 15.
