From next month, Singapore Airlines will fly twice a day to the Indian capital city of New Delhi - up from the current nine flights a week.
The capacity injection 'reflects the strong interest and demand for flights to and from Delhi, and the importance of the Indian market to Singapore Airlines' the carrier said on Tuesday.
As part of the launch, a special two-way economy fare of $798 - inclusive of all taxes and surcharges - is being offered for a limited number of seats.
At least two must travel together to be eligible.
Regular round trip fares are usually more than $1,000.
Bookings are open from now until Friday and more details are available at singaporeair.com.
With the introduction of second daily service to Delhi, SIA will operate a total of 63 weekly flights to eight cities in India.
The other points are Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Amritsar.
In addition, the airline's regional subsidiary, SilkAir, also operates daily flights from Kochi, four flights from Thiruvananthapuram and three times weekly from Coimbatore. As airlines continue to deal with sky-high fuel prices, SIA which recently reported a 15 per cent drop in quarterly profits for the three months to end-June, is more conscious of where it deploys its resources.
