High-flying AAI yet to fulfil its promises

Nagpur: The swanky terminal building of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport, the rechristened and renovated Nagpur airport, was inaugurated on April 14.
However, five months down the line several facilities promised during the inauguration of the new terminal are yet to be commissioned.
"The AAI had promised to install all these facilities and upgrade the terminal building. However, it has failed to keep its promises and terminal building is still neglected," sources told TOI.
"Even after the ministry of civil aviation issued a notification to change the airport's name to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International airport, the boards displayed at various places in the complex still mention it as Dr Ambedkar International Airport" , sources added.
The AAI had promised that the new-look city terminal would be equipped with two aerobridges to allow passengers to board and disembark from the aircraft from the terminal building itself. It had also proposed to set up ATM counters near the main entrance to the terminal building.
The already-well-equipped cafeteria was also supposed to serve international cuisine and refreshments with a relaxed ambience to boot.
Sources added that a 'duty-free shop' in the main terminal building and a pre-paid taxi and autorickshaw services were also promised.
