Chandigarh: The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has directed MDLR Airlines to pay Rs 10,000 as compensation on account of deficiency in services.
The Kolkata-Chandigarh flight landed at Delhi instead of its stated destination (Chandigarh).
The airline as well as the travel agency — Aadish Tour and Travels—has been asked to compensate for the difference in airfare.
The complainant Vinod Kumar, a resident of Sector 33, had purchased a return ticket for the Kolkata to Chandigarh flight on February 6 for Rs 12,300
In Kolkata, he reported at the airport two hours prior to the scheduled time but was told that the flight was delayed.
Kumar alleged that the airlines failed to inform him regarding the delay and did not provide any meals during the five-hour waiting period. The complaint states that the flight landed at the New Delhi airport around 10 pm. From here, the airlines arranged an ordinary bus to ferry the passengers to Chandigarh.
MDLR Airlines refused to accept the court’s summons and the judgment was ex parte.
