Ahmedabad: The loss of Naran Vaghela, survived by his wife and five children, is huge, but already the airport and airlines authorities have washed their hands off.
Airport director, PB Bhagat, was not available for comment, while his subordinates were quick to wash their hands off saying that this was an airlines bus and they have nothing to do with the incident . "The incident took place between two gates near the air traffic control. This was outside the airport premises and hence the Airports Authority of India (AAI) or its officials have nothing to do with it. Also, it cannot be the responsibility of Ahmedabad airport as it was an airlines coach," said the officer.
Indian Airlines too has washed its hands off saying the bus was not its own, but under contract of a private travel company. S Jadav, airport manager of Indian Airlines, said that passenger coach facility is outsourced by it. The driver and the bus belonged to Mukesh Travels, he said.
Mukesh Shah of Mukesh Travels said, "The driver has informed me that he could not apply the brakes. It appears to me that the leg of the driver could have slipped from the brake resulting in the accident."
