Bangalore: The joint legislature committee, constituted to suggest measures to improve the services at the Bangalore International Airport (BIA) to global standards, came down heavily on the facilities as the airport by comparing it to a factory shed.
The committee headed by MLA Dr Premachand Sagar, held its first meeting here on Saturday.
The members described the BIA as a "third class" compared to the international airports of Shanghai, Hong Kong, Dubai and Beijing.
"The committee will submit its report within three months after studying the aesthetic appeal of various international airports abroad and the quality of passenger services there in comparison with BIA," he said.
The committee would suggest appropriate measures for upgrading the look and facilities at the airport terminal to truly international standards, he added.
He asked officials to submit the records of all the agreements signed between Union and state governments and BIAL. He also sought details on the exact extent of land provided, various concessions offered and the total expenditure incurred for constructing BIA.
