Kolkata: Union Minister and RJD MP Akhilesh Prasad Singh on Tuesday said he has been "framed" in the incident at Patna airport where he allegedly beat up the station manager of Kingfisher Airlines after he was not allowed to board the Patna-Kolkata flight as he reported late.
The Minister of state for Food told reporters at Howrah station after disembarking from Danapur Express that such an allegation was "unfortunate". He said he has also informed the Civil Aviation ministry about the matter. According to airport authorities, the minister allegedly assaulted and abused station manager of the Airlines Sagar Nath Das for denying him entry after the door of the flight was closed.
Das said Mamata Travel Agency, which had booked the ticket for the minister, had got it cancelled over telephone, saying the minister had changed his travel plan. However, Singh arrived at the airport around 8.20 pm after the door of the aircraft was closed and insisted on being allowed to board the plane, Das said, adding by that time the captain had already taken signal from the ATC for take off.
"I met him in the VIP departure lounge and expressed my inability to accommodate him and apologised for the inconvenience. But he flew into a rage and slapped and abused me in the presence of several people," he alleged.
Das has lodged a complaint against the minister with the airport police station.
