New Delhi: Goverment is planning to create pharmaceutical zones on major international airports to facilitate export of drugs, particularly those formulated in the country.
"We have prepared a blue print for establishing pharmaceutical zones on international airports, so that the testing of drugs can be done while exporting pharmaceutical products from the country," Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) Surinder Singh told PTI on the sidelines of a conference organise by industry body FICCI.
This move would give a boost to the Indian pharmaceutical industry as exports account for a major share of it, Singh said.
"These zones would have (Good Manufacturing Practices) GMP-compliant centres and the creation of zones in the place of transit would allow us to test the materials on conditions, which are similar to the production facility," Singh said.
