Sidhu held a peaceful protest outside Raja Sansi International Airport

Amritsar: BJP Member Parliament from Amritsar Navjot Singh Sidhu, along with city based trade unions including hotel industry, tour and travel agents, temp and taxi unions held a peaceful protest outside Raja Sansi International Airport here on Wednesday.
During protest Sidhu urged Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Union Civil Aviation Minister to come forward to save the hotel and tourist industry in the holy city.
Sidhu said that it was a serious matter over the decision of few International Airlines (Singapore Airline & Jet Airways) to withdraw their international flights from Amritsar. This is after Trans Aero which had already withdrawn its flights.
Sidhu said that International connectivity of Punjab with Far east, Australia & New Zealand, as well as with USA & Europe will be radically impaired besides cargo moments to these countries from the holy city.
Sidhu said that with these developments Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh air traffic moving through Amritsar airport would also be curtailed. As these developments would certainly hit inbound business NRI & pilgrim traffic in Amritsar.
