This is best time to travel abroad

New Delhi: If you are planning a honeymoon or a vacation with kids abroad, this could be the best time. With economic slowdown hitting the
Airport global travel industry, international airlines and hotels at destinations such as Australia, South Africa and Egypt are offering discounts to attract tourists.
Says SOTC chief operating officer Sunil Gupta: “This is the best time to go abroad for holiday, especially to long-haul destinations. Hotel operators in several international destinations have cut room rates by about 20-25%. We, as tour operators, are passing on part of the discount to consumers.”
For instance, a 10-day vacation to Australia is now cheaper by Rs 13,000 at Rs 1.46 lakh per person. Similarly, a couple’s trip to Europe will come at Rs 1.39 lakh, cheaper by Rs 21,000. Tour operators are offering a nearly Rs 10,000 discount on a nine-day trip to South Africa.
“We are offering discounts of 10-15% after a recent re-negotiation of arrangements with hotels and airlines,” Thomas Cook India MD Madhavan Menon said.
"... We have lowered our fares to Far East & Middle-East by 10% to give a fillip to air travel,” Cathay Pacific sales and marketing manager (India, Nepal and Bangladesh) Rakesh Raicar said.
