AAI in Pan-India Intranet Plans

Mumbai: The information technology division at the Airports Authority of India (AAI) is establishing country wide Intranet, and also enhancing IT enabled applications and services across its offices, on a SOA platform.
It is also developing a master data combining data from the ATC and Air Traffic Billing Modules (ATBM) respectively. The master database will gel the business rules for all the airports and their master databases into a single Airport Information Management System (AIMS) instance. The master database will be managed by the unit at AAI central headquarter.
According to a source at AAI, the integrated master database will have information on flight schedule modules, modules for commercial billing, an interface for exchange of billing and realizing data between AIMS and IFPIMS, among others.
Centralized Web based comprehensive applications, AIMS and Integrated Finance & Personnel Information Management System (IFPIMS) presently operate as separate modules. Each module has a different database for each airport. Hence, the data has to be fed separately to all the AIMSes.
The billing information generated for traffic and commercial in the airport AIMS is manually passed to the IFPIMS application. Payment realization from airlines and concessionaires are handled in IFPIMS. After the data entry, the AIMS database for each airport is also updated manually, the source said.
