Amitabh Bachchan's gun sets off airport scare

Mumbai: Zanjeer, Deewar, Sholay, Don, Agneepath, Ek Ajnabee and well... Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag . Amitabh Bachchan is no stranger to guns, both on and off the screen. But the Big B created a flutter at an already strained Mumbai airport on Saturday morning when he checked in with a weapon for which he wasn't carrying papers.
Bachchan, who was to board Jet Airways flight 9W 202 for Pune at 9.55 am, had declared his weapon as part of his check-in baggage, but the documents he produced for it turned out to be those of another of his three guns.
Although in times of terrorism, this was no light matter, Jet Airways did not pursue it and let the actor board after his secretary took the gun home.
"The digits on the pistol were different from those on the licence. Airline officials found the curvature of the pistol different from the one the digits indicated," said an airport security officer. Jet too confirmed the incident.
Perhaps because it was the Big B, airline staff skipped the mandatory step of informing the CISF or the local police.
