Aviation and hospitality players anticipate good times in near future

New Delhi: Industry leaders from the aviation and hospitality sectors recently came together to allay inhibitions regarding career prospects in the aviation and services sector, during a round table conference organised by Air Hostess Academy (AHA). The participants included Anil Bhandari, MD, JHM Interstate Hotels India Ltd; Kamal Hingorani, VP, SpiceJet; John Powell, Regional Manager - North and East India, Qantas Airways; Pran Dasan, Regional Manager - South Asia and Pakistan, Kuwait Airways. Sapna Gupta, Founder and Director, AHA and Rajan Mehra, Business Head, Strategic Alliance Department, AHA were also present during the conference. More than 500 aspirants from all branches of AHA in Delhi NCR were also part of this discussion.
During the discussion, speakers were of the unanimous view that the current downturn is a temporary phenomenon, and that these industries will eventually bounce back. This is due to the fact that India's potential in aviation and hospitality has not been realised so far. Further, in comparison to even it’s much smaller neighbours like Thailand, Singapore and Sri Lanka, India has less frequency of flights — in the hospitality sector, the total number of hotel rooms is minuscule, compared to its neighbours. For instance, Bangkok alone has more hotel rooms than the entire hotel room inventory of India. More than 500 aspirants from all branches of AHA in Delhi NCR were part of this discussion.
