Tight security at Bangalore airport

Bangalore: Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) has become a virtual fortress with security being beefed up following threats of a possible terror strike on the airport.
Intelligence Bureau reports showed that the Deccan Mujahiddin warned that they will strike BIA during December 4-6. With December 6 being the anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition, the threat perception is high.
BIA opened operations on May 24 and subsequently the old HAL airport ceased to operate commercial air traffic. The approach road to the airport entrance has been barricaded for vehicle checks. This means passengers take an extra 15-20 minutes to reach the airport.
All vehicles going to the airport are being stopped and checked before reaching the main terminal building. One can see bunkers with armed security personnel keeping a watchful eye on all movements.
Additional Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel will help the city police outside the airport; about 1,400 CISF personnel have been deployed there.
The police have deployed one Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) battalion and two platoons of Central Armed Reserve (CAR) personnel at the airport and surrounding areas. There are also about 200 armed special commandos deployed for additional security.
The police said the security checks at the airport are in on full swing and they are screening every vehicle entering the airport as well as the runway. CCTV cameras installed at the airport will capture every motion and there is 24X7 surveillance.
