Mumbai: National air-carrier, Air India, has seen a 10 per cent growth in domestic passenger traffic at the GMR Hyderabad Airport, following reduction in airfares, an official said. "Our load-factor has gone up by around 10 per cent, following drastic reduction in airfares late last year," a National Aviation Company of India Limited (NACIL) official told PTI on condition of anonymity.
Earlier, Air India was registering around 50 per cent load-factor only, which is now over 60 per cent, he said. The state-run airline had, on December 29, announced the reduction in basic fares by up to 82 per cent across its 19 domestic sectors including Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.
Sectors such as Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai have seen good bookings in the last few days, he added. Air India offers 1,800 seats through its 11 domestic flights from Hyderabad. "Last Sunday, we had 1,200 seats booked across our 11 domestic flights against a total seat capacity of 1,800," the official said.
However, yield has not increased in proportion to the increase in load-factor, the official said.
