Dimapur : Horror stories from air passengers’ encounter with Nagaland’s only airport, Dimapur airport, is a standard terror so common and expected. This time, the horror airport has caught Dimapur’s Deputy Commissioner frowning.
Deputy Commissioner Maong Aier today shot off a letter to the Regional Executive Director of the Airport Authority of India, highlighting a good number of glitches the aviation authorities must address sooner. In fact, the “services” available to air passengers at Dimapur airport highlighted by the DC are so bare-naked – even to the extent that seats for passengers’ are “very less and not comfortable”. And don’t even mention anything about airport air-conditioning services.
In the letter, the DC sought the attention of the AAI to the complaints from passengers that the ‘passenger seats’ in the airport are “very less and not comfortable”. The same goes for something as essential as trolleys, in airports, which the DC lamented, are “not at all sufficient”. Highlighting these shoddy basic amenity-services, the DC stated: “This is a very serious matter where rights of the consumers are deprived in Dimapur airport”. The DC has demanded that a sufficient number of trolleys be ‘sanctioned’ for Dimapur airport and likewise, “proper” passenger seats be installed immediately.
And the horror story isn’t at all over. The DC informed the AAI’s authorities that “sufficient complaints” have been received from passengers that the airport doesn’t even have air-conditioned halls, bookstalls, restaurants and likened services.
The service of air-conditioning is a prerequisite of any airport, the DC reminded.
