Fliers suffer a 'waiting' day

Lucknow: It was a day of waiting at Amausi airport on Thursday as fog grounded the expectations of hundreds of passengers to reach their destinations in time. Over a dozen flights, both domestic and international, were delayed following low visibility conditions.
Most affected were the flights from New Delhi some of which got delayed by one to two hours, for example, IC 411/412 of Indian Airlines which was supposed to reach Amausi at 9 am and depart at 10 am. The flight got delayed by over one hour. It arrived at the airport only by 10.15 am. Airport authorities tried their bit to ease the problem by preparing the flight for the take off by 10.55 itself.
Likewise the S26137 of Jetlite was also delayed by over four hours. The flight was supposed to touch the Lucknow airstrip at 6.50 am and fly back to Delhi by 7.20 am. But the flight arrived at 12.55 am because of heavy fog conditions in Delhi. It later took off for its return journey at 1.30 pm.
Flights coming from Mumbai also got delayed because of the poor visibility conditions. Like IC-195 of Indian Airlines which was delayed by over half-an-hour -- it was scheduled to reach Lucknow by 11.30 am but reached at 12.05 pm. It flew back by 12.45 pm. The visibility conditions improved in the afternoon even as S2665 of Jetlite touched the Amausi airport on time, at 1.20 pm.
