Lucknow: Nearly a hundred passengers on board a Kolkata-Delhi flight remained stranded at the Amausi Airport from 8 pm onwards after the aircraft
was diverted to Lucknow following poor visibility over Delhi airport on Saturday evening.
The change in schedule left the passengers stranded inside the aircraft itself for more than five hours by the time of filing this report. Sources at the airport said that the flight was expected to take off once the authorities got a clearence from the Delhi Airport with regards to restoration of the required visibility. "It is unlikely that the aircraft will move before morning and there appear no arrangements on the ground by the airlines to provide any relief to the passengers by way of shifting them to a hotel for the night," said an official of the airport.
Quite a few passengers on board, who were on their way to Delhi after enjoying their new year bash and had plans to resume routine office work from Monday after a Sunday rest, were peeved at the manner in which the airlines had left them unattended. "There is no one to tell us if we will be stuck here all night long or will move out. We have not even been served dinner," complained one of the passengers, talking to TOI on phone.
