New Delhi: Prime Minister will get to fly in his new Boeing Business Jets (BBJs) as all the three VVIP aircraft from the US have arrived in the country.
After a formal induction ceremony in February, the aircraft would begin operations from March, IAF sources said.
These aircraft will be part of IAF Communications Squadron, which ferries the President, Prime Minister and top Cabinet ministers.
"We are already training our crew for operating the specially designed business jets for the VVIPs,"they said.
Due to problems of integration of the missile warning suite with the aircraft and sorting out of end user verification laws with the US, the aircraft have arrived here after a nine-month delay.
Sources said the three aircraft are now being extensively flown across the country and are undergoing complete system checks.
Of the three, one aircraft each will be dedicated to the President and the Prime Minister while the third one will be used to ferry senior cabinet ministers and state guests and will be used in the absence of the other two aircraft.
At present, the prime minister uses the Boeing 737s and Embraer executive jets of the IAF, besides chartered aircraft from Air India for domestic and international travel.
