80 flights affected by fog at IGI airport

New Delhi: Schedules of around 80 domestic and international flights of various airlines were badly affected due to dense fog which shrouded the Indira Gandhi International airport here for the second consecutive day on Friday.
The fog began to envelop the airport early in the morning (around 2 am) which resulted in diversion of seven international and two domestic flights to Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Mumbai. Five domestic flights -- three Jet Airways flights to Chandigarh, Leh and Mumbai, one Jetlite to Lucknow and one Kingfisher flight to Kullu -- were cancelled due to the dense fog, sources at the airport said.
Further, schedules of over 60 domestic and international flights, arriving and departing from the national capital, were also affected as many of them were delayed by up to two to three hours.
About 23 flights -- 19 domestic departure, two international departure and two international arrivals -- were rescheduled causing great inconvenience to the fliers.
