Airlines conduct over 2,000 emergency drills

New Delhi: In order to deal with emergency situations, various airlines conducted more than 2,000 drills and briefing programmes in 2008-09, the Lok Sabha was informed today.
A total of 2,280 exiting drills and briefing programmes were organised by airlines in 2008-09 down from 3,397 such drills and briefing programmes in 2007-08, Minister of State ( Independent Charge) for Civil Aviation Praful Patel said in a written reply.
There were 875 such drills and programmes organised by Jet Airways, 582 by Kingfisher Airline, 368 by Inter Globe Aviation Ltd and 245 by Air India, he said. Go Airlines organised only 36 such briefings as against 174 by Air Deccan during the same period.
