Hyderabad: A Sri Lankan national who was trying to board a British Airways flight with fake passport and visa on Thursday morning at the RGI airport has no LTTE links, police said on Friday.
Tamileswaran, 20, is from Adikovilai in Jafna district of Sri Lanka. He is the youngest of four sons of Rajakumar and Kala. According to RGI airport police, unable to bear life in the conflict zone, Kala along with her four sons - Nagaleswaran, Jagadeeswaran, Vigneswaran and Tamileswaran - came to Trichy in 2006. Rajakumar is a fisherman and is still in Jafna.
After coming to India, Nagaleswaran and Jagadeeswaran left for the UK in 2007 where they are doing odd jobs in London. Tamileswaran was working as an automobile mechanic at Trichy and staying with his family. However, in order to join his brothers in London, Tamileswaran approached one Ravi of Trichy and secured a fake passport and visiting visa in the name of Nehru Dasan from Kanya Kumari.
En route to London, he reached Hyderabad on Wednesday. Around 8 am on Thursday, Tamileswaran went to board a British Airways flight to London using the fake passport and visa.
"The BA counter staff noticed the fake visa and handed him over to immigration officials," RGI Airport SI N Jayaram said.
After questioning Tamileswaran, late on Thursday night, immigration authorities handed him over to the RGI airport police.
