Jet may take stake in GMR MRO

Mumbai: The aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) venture between infrastructure player GMR and Malaysia Airlines is expected to be finalised by the end of the month.
Idris Jala, managing director, Malaysia Airlines, said the company was looking to Jet Airways being the anchor tenant for the venture. Jet Airways, which is expected to pick up equity in the venture, did not rule out such a move.
"Let the deal be finalised," Naresh Goyal, chairman, Jet Airways, told DNA Money. A GMR official confirmed that a final announcement regarding the MRO would be made by month-end.
GMR and Malaysia Airlines have been in talks over the MRO, to be based in Hyderabad, since August last year. Financial details of the venture were not disclosed by either party.
Sudheer Raghavan, chief commercial officer of Jet Airways, said the carrier is also discussing additional code-sharing deals with Brussels Airlines. "We already have six code shares with them, and should have four more in place by next month. We are looking to add 10 more, taking code shares with the airline to 20," Raghavan said.
