Spicejet flight delayed by 7 hrs due to fog, technical snag

New Delhi: Passengers of a Spicejet Delhi-Bangalore flight had to spend seven long hours in the plane after it could not take off due to sudden fog and then some technical problem in the aircraft.
The Spicejet plane SG-501 could not take off at seven in the morning as the visibility dropped to less than 50 metres due to fog which enveloped the Indira Gandhi International Airport suddenly around 6.30 am.
The passengers had boarded the plane when the fog descended on the airport and spent nearly seven hours in the aircraft when it finally took off at 1.30 pm, sources at the airport said.
The passengers' woes did not end even after the fog was over as the plane was caught in congestion due to heavy backlog of flights at the airport.
After the backlog was cleared, the aircraft developed some technical problem due to which the passengers were shifted to another plane after five hours.
