Wrong notion that airports were not safe: Patel

Jaipur: Minister for Civil Aviation Praful Patel today said that it was a wrong notion that all airports in the country were not safe.
"If any lapse is detected, it would be corrected and the security was the main concern of civil aviation at national level," Patel told reporters here.
On being asked about the parliamentary committee which questioned the security at airports, he said, "it was a wrong notion that all airports were not safe and the matter and process of privatisation of airports will be not be stopped".
"Either the AAI-run airports or private airports, it (security) would be the main concern of civil aviation through the central agencies like CISF," he said.
Questioned about establishing domestic civil airports in the bordering districts of Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bikaner and Suratgarh where army and airbase are located, the minister said it would not be a problem.
Civil Aviation ministry will discuss the civil airports projects with the army and airforce authorities and there would be no interference or encroachment, he said.
