Airport-based industrial park on the anvil

Nedumbassery: The Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL) which possess 450 acres of land has proposed to develop an airport-based industrial park which aims at setting up industrial units like Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) of components and engines of aircrafts to cater to the needs of aviation industry.
Golf course, star hotels, multiplexes and amusement centre, shopping arcade, exhibition hall, trade centre, education institutions, logistic & warehousing centres and a super speciality hospital are some of the projects proposed at the industrial park with private investments, said CIAL managing director C G Krishnadas Nair.CIASL, a subsidiary of CIAL, would monitor the establishment of the MRO units.
The facility would cater to the need of narrow body aircrafts in the first phase and widebody aircraft in the second phase.
A large number of investment opportunities will be provided by the CIAL in the industrial park.
CIAL will offer developed land plots, utilities like electricity and communication to the investors.
Proximity of international airport, cargo service, wide road network, support service and landscaping are other attractions of the proposed industrial park.The application for SEZ status for the park is pending before the government. The ministers have assured to consider the application favourably, sources said.
