Mumbai: Its election time which means sleepless nights not only for politicians but also for those controlling India's air-space as air-traffic scales new highs with politicos hiring aircraft to ferry them across the country for campaigning.
"During elections, air-traffic rises by at least five per cent as a good number of politicians now use choppers and small aircraft to travel for election campaigning," a Mumbai Air Traffic Control (ATC) personnel told PTI here.
With most of those up in the sky being VIPs, the pressure is all the more on the air-controllers to ensure safety and see that all rules are observed.
The pressure is heavy on the Mumbai and Delhi ATCs as they cover a large part of the country's air-space, the official said.
