Turkey's Celebi Ground Handling Corp. had bidden for two tenders in India, opened by Delhi International Airport Private Ltd. (DIAL)--the operator of the Indira Gandhi International Airport, a company statement said on Monday.
The Turkish company said that it had submitted bids for a tender to upgrade, modernize, finance and operate the existing cargo terminal of the Indira Gandhi International Airport (Brownfield) in New Delhi for 25 years.
The company has also given bids for the construction, finance and 25-year management of the new cargo terminal (Greenfield) at the same airport.
The Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport is the second biggest airport in India in terms of cargo traffic as 430,000 tons of cargo was transported from this airport in 2008. The cargo traffic at the airport was approximately up 10 percent every year since 2001.
Founded in 1958 at Ankara's Esenboga Airport as the first privately-owned ground handling services company in the Turkish aviation industry, Çelebi provides services such as passenger traffic, load control and communication, ramp, cargo and mail, and aircraft security services, executive aviation services, and warehouse and terminal operations.
