ACC approval sought for Air India chief

New Delhi: A search committee led by cabinet secretary K.M. Chandrasekhar has forwarded names of government officers it has shortlisted to head National Aviation Co. of India Ltd (Nacil)-run Air India to the appointments committee of the cabinet.
It was not immediately clear how many names were shortlisted, but according to a senior civil aviation ministry official who declined to be named, Arvind Jadhav, a 1978 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer who is now principal secretary in the Karnataka government, is one of candidates leading the race.
The shortlisted candidates have been picked from the applications that were received for the top post in 2008 when the outgoing chairman and managing director Raghu Menon, who was then financial adviser to the aviation ministry, was asked to head the carrier.
E.K. Bharat Bhushan, a Kerala cadre IAS officer, and currently the financial adivser of the aviation ministry, was given additional charge as chairman and managing director of Nacil.
